CeFEO Practitioners Network SeminarWelcome to the CeFEO Practitioners’ Network Seminar: Date and time: May 11th from 16.00-17:00 via Zoom Ownership Strategies in the family business Ownership strategy is a relatively new concept but a promising approach to solving the ownership paradox. Ownership strategy offers the owner a tool that would be directed and applicable to guiding the managerial and governance systems of businesses. Ownership strategies are created for a specific need: the situation in the family, a certain question in the business, the need to control the group of businesses or the proactive management of the family members’ positions in the family business. The Finnish Family Firms Association (2020) has defined ownership strategy as follows:” The owning family defines together the values, purpose, objectives, and measures guiding the ownership. These among others are the basis for ownership strategy that creates the framework for the board of directors’ decision making.” Krista and Marita will present two approaches to ownership strategy. Speakers: Krista Elo-Pärssinen (Family Business Expert, Ph.D., Senior Advisor at Finnish Family Firms Association) and Marita Rautiainen (Associate Professor LUT University, CeFEO Affiliated Researcher Jönköping International Business School) Organizer: Centre for Family Entrepreneurship and Ownership |

CeFEO Research Seminar presented by Marita RautiainenFamily business groups as a research context – An important but under studied phenomenon Marita Rautiainen (presenter) May 15th, 12:00-13:00 CET B6046 or Via Zoom ABSTRACT: The paper highlights that research on turning one family business into a family business group (FBG), which may span across diverse business sectors and generations, is relevant and important so that we can understand the development and depth of family businesses. The emergence and development of family business groups showcase the dynamics of families in business and the decisions they proactively, or reactively, take to business opportunities or institutional and contextual challenges. Family business groups are ubiquitous, and influential, and play a major role in national economies. While much of the current research around this topic has so far focused on emerging economies, more knowledge is needed on family business groups in developed economies; specifically, how the Organizer: Centre for Family Entrepreneurship and Ownership |

MMTC Research Seminar presented by guest Federica Caboni.Frederica Caboni is visiting JIBS and will present an MMTC research seminar entitled “Exploring augmented reality applications for sustainable retailing”.
Many transformations have affected the retail scenario in the last few years. Digitalization and sustainability are the main challenges to consider for the further development of retailing. From the assumption of the acceleration of digital innovation, could be interesting to consider augmented reality (AR) as a supportive technology that supports sustainable retailing. The aim of this seminar is to explore the adoption of augmented reality for sustainable retailing, highlighting the opportunities and limitations in the application. As a first approach in understanding how augmented reality could be helpful for sustainable retailing, this work contributed to exploring the intersections between the actual knowledge on the AR role in the retail industry and the 3Ps (Planet, People and Profit) principle for sustainability in the business context. Even commenting on specific AR applications in retail sustainability projects helps understanding the state of the art and expressing future perspectives in retail.
